Dog Rescued After Falling 25ft From Hiking Trail

The Hope Valley-Wyoming Fire Department safely rescued the dog, which was off the Narragansett Trail of the Yawgoog Scout Reservation.

ROCKVILLE, RI — The Hope Valley-Wyoming Fire Department was called in to rescue a dog that fell off a trail near the Connecticut state line. The dog was trapped after falling about 25 feet off the trail.

Firefighters, along with rangers from the Yawgoog Scout Reservation and the Hopkinton Animal Control, found the hikers on the Narragansett Trail, as well as the dog. No one was injured, the department said. Both the hikers and the dog were safely rescued and escorted from the woods.

"Outstanding coordinated effort by our firefighters, the Yawgoog Rangers and Hopkinton Animal Control," the department said.
