Piaget Unveils High-Jeweled Wings Of Light Watches And Jewelry

Swiss brand Piaget is known globally for its incredible work with diamonds and gemstones. The brand is not only a creator of watches – and complicated ones at that – but also of exquisite high jewelry. Now, it unveils its newest masterpieces: watches and jewelry that are whimsically mesmerizing in the form of a new  Wings of Light collection. 

Highlights of the new series include Enchanted Flight, a series of pieces that reflect a bird in flight. Color takes center stage here – with shades of blue dominating, but fading into greens, reds and yellows. The dazzling pendant that is part of this collection features  a bird whose feather plumes reach out in both directions – a  magnificent mix of diamonds, different colored sapphires, and spinel  precisely set by gem setter  and master of Métiers d’ Art, Nelly Saunier. 

The center of the pendant features a rare 7.49-carat Paraiba tourmaline that gives off a spectacular pale blue/green incandescence.  The plumes thin out and then form a cuff-style necklace to hug the neck so it lays beautifully against it. This one-of-a-kind necklaces took hundreds of hours to set the perfectly matched stones. What makes the pendant even more alluring is the fact that is an ingenious convertible system  wherein the necklace can be worn without the plumage or feather marquetry, which can be removed from the piece worn as a single ear cuff or split into two parts for earrings. 

 Another spectacular suite is the Secret Cenote collection of diamond and gemstone necklace, cocktail rings and even a watch. The cocktail ring is a signature look and took almost eight months to collect enough perfectly matched vibrantly hued blue tourmalines. However, for me, it is the Cenote watch that is truly alluring.

By bringing together lush green and blue Australian opals with sapphires and diamonds, Piaget’s master artisans have created a geometrical wonder. The watch I channel set with baguette-cut stones and some brilliant-cut diamonds. The center horizontal rectangular dial is vibrant opal.

In beautiful tones of red and coral, the Rainbow Light set completes the highlights. Working with rubellites, pink tourmalines and diamonds, as well as hand-worked gold, Piaget works magic to emulate sunsets and sun rises. For the exquisite watch that completes the suite, a marquetry design of Maple, Tulip Tree, Sycamore, straw and leather come together in an artful creation by Rose Saneuil to create a stunning motif on the dial of a diamond-set gold watch with tourbillon escapement.
