Citizen Cope has announced an extensive, rare full-band U.S. tour in support of his first album in seven years, “Heroin And Helicopters,” due out March 1 on Rainwater Recordings/Thirty Tigers.

The tour will include an April 6 Oklahoma City show at the Diamond Ballroom, 8001 S Eastern Ave. Tickets are $25 in advance and available online at www.dcfconcerts.com, by phone at 800-514-3849, in person at Buy For Less and Smart Saver locations in OKC and at the Brady Theater Box Office in Tulsa.

Cope (aka Clarence Greenwood)has shared stages with the likes of Eric Clapton and Dave Matthews Band and has toured the world extensively over the course of his 25-year career as a musician, including appearances at Coachella, Bonnaroo, Sasquatch, Austin City Limits and many other festivals.

“Heroin And Helicopters” tackles Cope’s personal struggles with religion, political manipulation, hollowness in the entertainment world, and spiritual enlightenment, as he contends with his own role in those societal institutions, according to a news release. NPR Music’s World Cafe said lead single “Justice” “swaggers with a head-nodding groove and contains a yearning and soulful message of optimism and positivity.”
