HALF MOON BAY — An El Granada man was killed Monday night while riding his bike near the Half Moon Bay coastline, authorities said.

Around 6:09 p.m., the 59-year-old bicyclist was riding northbound on Airport Street near Stanford Avenue, north of Pillar Point Harbor, when a southbound Toyota Sienna struck him, according to California Highway Patrol public information officer Art Montiel.

The bicyclist was pronounced dead by responding officers, Montiel said. His name will be released after formal identification and notification of next of kin by the coroner’s office.

CHP identified the minivan’s driver as Muyuan Zhu, 33, of East Palo Alto. He remained on the scene and cooperated with the investigation.

Drugs, alcohol and speed did not appear to be factors in the crash, Montiel said.
