HARFORD COUNTY, MD — The Humane Society of Harford County is waiving adoption fees until further notice. Its dog kennels are completely full. All 44 are taken, including 11 animals that cannot be adopted because they are part of pending court cases, according to a statement the shelter issued Thursday, Sept. 19.

Individuals and organizations are needed to help adopt out the animals.

"A quiet and serene older cat; a young and energetic dog; a playful kitten — whatever you’re looking for, we have it," Executive Director Jen Swanson said in a statement. "We’re also extending an open invitation to all area rescue groups to visit and take animals into their programs."

As of Thursday afternoon, the organization reported it had some empty cages for incoming cats and kittens, as well as five kennels in the staff-only area for new arrivals. Harford County Animal Control could bring in more animals at any time, officials said.

The shelter also waived fees in July when its shelter was full.
