Palm Springs airport welcoming more flights from Pacific Northwest, East Coast, Canada

It's that time of the year again: 11 airlines serving Palm Springs International Airport are adding more flights from the Pacific Northwest, East Coast and Canada.

Flight times and start dates will vary depending on the airline. Travelers are urged to visit airline sites to learn more. 

These are the expanded flights for the upcoming season:

  • Air Canada: Calgary, Toronto, Vancouver
  • Alaska: Portland, San Francisco, Seattle-Everett
  • Allegiant: Bellingham, Washington
  • American: Chicago, Dallas, Phoenix
  • Contour: Sacramento
  • Delta: Atlanta, Minneapolis, Salt Lake City, Seattle
  • Frontier: Chicago, Denver
  • JetBlue: New York JFK, Boston
  • Sun Country: Minneapolis, San Francisco
  • United: Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, New York Newark, San Francisco
  • Westjet: Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver, Winnipeg

Mary Jo Ginther, director of the Palm Springs Bureau of Tourism, said in a statement she was happy to see the additions. 

"We truly have grown into (the) warm weather vacation destination that is welcoming to everyone," she wrote. 

The airport has seen a lot of growth in recent years. 

In 2018, more than 2.3 million travelers flew in and out of the airport. That broke the record set in 2017 of 2.1 million passengers.

Officials predict about 2.6 million passengers could go through the airport in 2019.
