Solano County has no shortage of local farms and wineries , and Sustainable Solano wants to highlight them with a trio of Bounty of the County events in the coming weeks.

This Saturday, three Suisun Valley winemakers — Tolenas, Mangels and Suisun Creek — will be pouring one of their wines, provide some background on how each wine was made and pair them with local, seasonable produce grown at local farms. There will also be food demonstrations, a chance to ask questions of the winemakers and sign up for wine club memberships. The event is noon to 2 p.m. at Mangels Vineyards, 4529, Suisun Valley Road, Fairfield.

For those interested in seeing how beer is made, Ruhstaller farm in Dixon will be offering a tour of the fields, cellar and brewery and explain how their organic hops become craft brews. Eatwell Farm and other family farms will provide small food tastings to pair with the beers, and Sustainable Solano will do cooking demos. The event is 1 to 3 p.m. at 6686 Sievers Road.

Finally, Sustainable Solano will be at the County Fair and provide cooking demonstrations, food samples, information on the local food system and where to buy locally grown food, and family-friendly activities. The booth will be available 3 to 6 p.m. June 18 at the Solano Fairgrounds, 900 Fairgrounds Drive.

Proceeds from all three events will support Sustainable Solano’s local food program, which includes free cooking classes and youth cooking programs.
