Gov. Kim Reynolds makes emergency proclamation in wake of Tuesday storms
Gov. Kim Reynolds issued a disaster proclamation on Wednesday for counties slammed by Tuesday’s tornadoes and severe storms.
The proclamation includes Madison, Marion and Warren counties.
It allows state resources to be sent to the counties and activates the Iowa Individual Assistance Grant Program, which give grants of up $5,000 for households with an annual income of $41,560 for a family of three.
The grants can be used for home and car repairs, replacing clothing, food and helps handle temporary housing expenses.
The National Weather Service confirmed an EF-3 tornado touched down in Lacona as severe weather swept across the state.
EF-1 tornadoes were also confirmed in Badger Creek State Park and Tracy.
Residents in need of assistance can find the grant application and instructions here and have 45 days to submit a claim.
