Kemar Roofe EXCLUSIVE: Former Leeds striker thanks Marcelo Biesla for ‘footballing education’ after completing Anderlecht transfer

Kemar Roofe has told talkSPORT he will always be indebted to Leeds United manager Marcelo Biesla for helping make his move to Anderlecht a reality.

The English striker’s Elland Road exit was confirmed on Tuesday, with the 26-year-old signing for the Belgian club in a deal believed to be worth around £6.4million (€7m).

Roofe's departure is a big blow for the Whites after his brilliant season in the Championship, ending the campaign as the club’s top scorer with 15 goals, despite missing a number of games through injury.

But Roofe has revealed he leaves Leeds with fond memories and as a fan for life, and acknowledges his switch to join player-manager Vincent Kompany at Anderlecht may never have happened if it weren’t for Biesla.

“He helped me massively last season,” said the striker in an exclusive interview with talkSPORT host Jim White.

“Without his style of play and the footballing education he gave to us, I probably wouldn’t be in this position.

“I adapted to his style and I’ve changed a few things in my game that have improved, and these little things have been able to catch the eyes of other people, like Vincent Kompany.

“He likes the way I was playing last season, and he just wants me to continue and improve even more.”

“I’m a Leeds supporter now,” he added.

“I’ll be watching every game, following every move and I’ll still be talking to all the boys as if I was still there.

“Of course I’m going to be missing Leeds, but also I need to be focusing on Anderlecht.”
