Timothee Chalamet taking guitar lessons for role in rock legend biopic

8 Jan – Timothée Chalamet first showed the world a glimpse of his guitar-plucking skills when he starred in 2017's "Call Me By Your Name". He's about to take these skills to the next level, however, as he is all set to portray a rock star next.
According to Deadline, Chalamet will be playing the legendary Bob Dylan in Fox Searchlight's biopic, which will focus on the singer-songwriter's move from folk to rock music.
Reportedly, Chalamet has already started taking guitar lessons, familiarising himself with the acoustic and electric guitar, so he can portray the young Dylan as accurately as possible.
There's no mention of vocal lessons though, so at the moment it is unknown whether Chalamet will also be singing the music icon's hits.
Chalamet has quickly become Hollywood's darling with his recent movies. His role as Elio in "Call Me By Your Name" shot him to the mainstream, and he has followed it up with strong performances in "Beautiful Boy", "The King", "Little Women" and more.
This year, he already has two films lined up for release. "The French Dispatch", described as "a love letter to journalists" and "Dune", a sci-fi film based on the 1965 novel of the same name.
In addition to all of that, he will also make his London stage debut in "4000 Miles" this 16 April until 23 May.

James Mangold, who directed "Logan" and "Ford v Ferrari" – the latter which has recently grossed over USD200 million worldwide and received critical praise, will be helming the biopic. This will be his second movie about an iconic musician, after his 2005 Johnny Cash-June Carter movie, "Walk the Line".
The Bob Dylan biopic focuses on his transition to rock 'n' roll just as he was about to become folk music's biggest artist. When Dylan plugged in his amp at the Newport Folk Festival in 1965, he made history.
Both Dylan and his longtime manager Jeff Rosen are working with Searchlight and Mangold on the film, so the film is fully authorised and should do Dylan justice. Of course, all rights to Dylan's music have been acquired.
It has not been officially titled yet, but has been referred to as "Going Electric", likely based off the book that the script was inspired by, Elijah Wald's "Dylan Goes Electric".
This movie is the latest in a line of musical biopics sweeping cinema right now, like Rami Malek's portrayal of Freddie Mercury in "Bohemian Rhapsody" and Taron Egerton's portrayal of Elton John in "Rocketman".
Deadline also confirmed last November that a Michael Jackson biopic was in the works by none other than "Bohemian Rhapsody's" director Graham King. It's not linked to any studios at this point, but reportedly King has secured the rights to all of Jackson's discography.
