Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools kicked off their summer meals program today providing access to free healthy meals to those that need it.
This summer the program includes prepared hot meals, pick-up meal kits and mobile meal delivery.
Meal kits include a nutritious breakfast and lunch for children 18 years and younger.
Forsyth County Schools says the goal is to feed the children of the community and provide them the proper nutrition to continue learning.
Debra Stewart, summer meals program coordinator, says the kits are also a great opportunity for the whole family to get involved.
“You learn nutritional facts about things. You learn how to teach your kids and your kids teach you too. It's very important to bring the family together to cook, to learn and to be healthy,” Stewart said.
Hot meals and meal kit pickups are available at a variety of locations across Forsyth County.
