2 King City gang members convicted of 2019 murder

(BCN) — A jury in Salinas has convicted two alleged gang members from King City in the 2019 murder of a man they mistakenly thought was a member of a rival gang because he was wearing the color red.

The jury found guilty 21-year-old Eduardo Anaya Solis (also known as Sleepy) and 24-year-old Jose Armando Juarez (also known as Trips) of murder, conspiracy to commit murder, shooting at an occupied dwelling and street terrorism for their involvement in the murder of Charles Adolfo Jose, 19, of Greenfield.

According to an announcement Thursday from Monterey County District Attorney Jeannine M. Pacioni, prosecutors said Solis assembled two fellow Sureno gang members on Jan. 13, 2019, to find and kill a rival Norteno gang member in Greenfield.

Solis, Juarez and some co-conspirators traveled in two vehicles as they searched for rival gang members.

Prosecutors said the vehicles went by the home of Jose, who they suspected of being a member of the rival Norteno gang because he was wearing red as he cleaned a vehicle outside a friend’s home in Greenfield.

Prosecutors said Jose was not a gang member.

Solis and another shooter returned to the house where Jose was and fired 24 rounds at him, six of which struck him, according to prosecutors. The remaining shots struck two occupied homes and three vehicles nearby.

Jose died at the scene.

Solis faces a maximum term of 80 years to life in prison and Juarez faces a sentence of 60 years to life.

Two additional defendants in this case, Brayan Urrutia-Flores and Luis Sarabia, face trial later this year, prosecutors said.
