Julian Bradley Wins Wisconsin 28th State Senate Primary

GREENFIELD, WI — We now know who will advance to the November general election on the Republican side in the state's 28th State Senate district.

Julian Bradley, of Franklin, took home about 43 percent of the vote Tuesday, and will now face Democratic challenger Adam Murphy.

Bradley has been active with the Republican Party at the state level. He was elected chairman of the Republican Party of La Crosse County. He was also elected to the Wisconsin GOP executive committee.

Bradley describes himself as pro-law enforcement at a time when local police departments are being challenged in Wisconsin.

"The media wants you to think that my views are radical — that a black man who supports law enforcement is an anomaly. But that’s a lie," Bradley wrote in a recent essay. "In a recent Gallup poll, 61 percent of black Americans want the police presence in their communities to stay the same. Of course, some in the media will not report that or amplify our voices. Reporting the facts is not 'woke' or 'sexy' enough and doesn’t fit their narrative.

Bradley also said his role in business informs his views on how Wisconsin should reopen its economy amid the coronavirus pandemic.

"As a manager, business continuity planning is one of my primary functions to ensure that my company is prepared to adapt in the face of a pandemic," he wrote on his campaign priorities page. "The state needs a plan for addressing crises without destroying the livelihoods of our families and neighbors. We need to hold government accountable, instead of paying bureaucrats to stay home while taxpayers are hurting."

There were five Republicans on the ballot Tuesday:

Steve Bobowski, 64, Franklin, is the CEO of Dale Carnegie Training, and has served as the Economic Development Commissioner in Franklin in addition to serving on the Board of Directors for the South Suburban Chamber of Commerce.

Julian Bradley, 39, Franklin, served as the Chairman of the La Crosse County Republican Party, was chairman of the 2015 GOP State Convention among other roles. He is the operations manager

Marina Croft, 42, Franklin, is a small business owner and attorney.

Jim Engstrand, 53, Milwaukee, owns Great American Comfort Shoes, Inc.

Dan Griffin, 40, Greendale, serves as an attorney and small business owner.

Bradley advances to face Democratic challenger Adam Murphy.

Wisconsin's 28th State Senate District covers parts of Greenfield, Greendale, Franklin, Muskego, New Berlin, Waukesha County and into Racine and Walworth Counties.

Heading into Tuesday, the 33-seat body was controlled by the Republicans, who held 18 seats, compared to the Democrat's 13.
