Bunny-Masked Bandit Sentenced For Providence Gas Station Robbery

ATTLEBORO, MA — The Boston woman who wore animal masks in the commission of armed robberies in Mansfield and Attleboro has been sentenced to seven years in the Rhode Island Adult Correctional Institutions for an armed robbery in Providence, RI in May. The RI Attorney General's Office said Ashley Weaver, 28, pleaded guilty to four charges on Friday and was sentenced to 20 years in prison with at least seven years to be served and the remaining on probation.

The AG's Office said Weaver pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree robbery, one count of using a firearm during a crime of violence, one count of carrying a pistol without a license and one count of simple assault. She was also ordered to undergo mental health counseling after accepting guilt for robbing the Gulf gas station on Plainfield Street in Providence while wearing a monkey mask. She brandished a .40-caliber pistol and was handed $800 in cash.

She is also facing charges in an Attleboro gas station robbery in May where a store clerk was shot and a Mansfield robbery at a Cumberland Farms that same week.

Mansfield police charged Weaver with robbing the Cumberland Farms on Chauncy Street on May 24. Police said she wore a Halloween bunny mask, pulled a gun on the clerk and stole cash from the register. That came four days after police said she robbed a gas station on Newport Avenue in South Attleboro and shot the clerk.

Police said she wore the monkey mask in the Attleboro robbery as well.

She was arrested on the Providence armed robbery charges on June 6 at an apartment on Comstock Street in Providence. Police said she was taken into custody after a violent struggle. Police said they found a gun at the scene that matched the one used in all three robberies, a bunny mask, and other evidence.
