Portland-area public golf courses that are open and closed due to coronavirus outbreak (as of March 27)

Rose City Golf Course in Northeast Portland

Weather for the upcoming week is not promising, but the golf course still offers a welcome respite for those for a quick escape because of coronavirus restrictions.

The good news? There are options in the Portland-metro area for public play.

The bad news? Not every Portland-area public course is open. That is particularly true in Clark County in Washington, where Gov. Jay Inslee has said golf courses are not essential to public health. Lewis River in Woodland was open as of Friday afternoon, hoping to get more clarity on the decision from the governor’s office.

All courses have social distancing policies in place. Most have removed benches, trash cans, ball washers and sand trap rakes. Power carts are single-riders, except in the case of family members. The cups on most greens are raised in order to minimize touching of flagsticks.

Most courses are encouraging online payment to avoid handling of cards and money.
