Ohio man makes threats against school, reports say

CARDINGTON, Ohio — A 33-year-old man is facing multiple charges after police say he was heard making threats toward a school that houses middle and high school students.

According to WCMH Channel 4, Nicholas N. Smith is charged with aggravated menacing, making terroristic threats, obstructing official business, resisting arrest, domestic violence by threats, and persistent disorderly conduct. He is being held on a $25,000 bond after appearing in Morrow County Municipal Court on Monday, ABC 6 reports.

Cardington Police Chief James Wallace tells WBNS Channel 10 that Smith was arrested Sunday after multiple people heard him make threats against the school in the Cardington Lincoln School District. The people then reported the threats to police.

The threats were made while Smith was speaking with a family member on a speakerphone, WCMH reports. Officials declined to offer specifics on the threats.

The school district was open for classes on Monday, reports say.
