CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The Mountain State recorded its 53rd death attributed to Covid 19 on Saturday. The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources announced the latest victim was a 70 year old man from Kanawha County.
As of Saturday morning there were 60,997 lab results from Covid-19 tests. 1,335 positive and 59,662 were negative. The percentage of positives dropped to 2.19% in cumulative tests dating back to March.

The Kanawha-Charleston Health Department Saturday announced two more day care workers tested positive for COVID-19 at drive-up clinics held by department and the Kanawha County Emergency Ambulance Authority.
Health Officials revealed one of the patients was an employee of the the Zion Child Development Center in Charleston and the other worked at My Family Preschool and Childcare Center in Hurricane.
The process of testing all daycare workers in West Virginia, which was ordered by Governor Jim Justice, is ongoing.
The Kanawha Charleston Health Department announced drive-thru clinics for those with appointments made through the health department will be held next week at the following locations:
Monday, May 11 Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 708 First Street, Montgomery
Tuesday, May 12, at Schoenbaum Center, 1701 5th Ave, Charleston
Wednesday, May 13, West Virginia State Student Union parking lot Washington Avenue, Institute
Each clinic runs from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Those wishing to be tested must be daycare workers or exhibiting symptoms of Covid 19. To make an appointment call KCHD at 304-348-1088.
