Gabriela's family is in a tough situation this holiday season.

The family's grandmother was diagnosed with breast cancer several years back and found out recently that the disease had spread to her liver and colon. The recent loss of the father's job has only made the financial situation more difficult due to the medical expenses.

They are a family of six and lack several necessities, including beds and a crib for their daughter, 1-year-old Jenelle.

Despite everything that has happened, 6-year-old son Aiden tries his best to maintain good grades and is on the AB Honor Roll.

The children will receive new winter coats from Operation Noel, the annual El Paso-area giving campaign that runs from Thanksgiving through Christmas Day.

The El Paso Times is not using the families' last names in order to protect the privacy of the children.
