BEDFORD-STUYVESANT — A homeless man was charged late Tuesday with stealing thousands of dollars worth of belongings from a doctor staying in New York City to help combat the COVID-19 outbreak,according to the NYPD.

Ronaldo Lewis, 29, is accused of breaking into the Texas doctor’s room at The Brooklyn Hotel on Atlantic Avenue in Bedford-Stuyvesant around 9 a.m. on May 23 and making off with $11,000 worth of clothing and jewelry, police said.

The doctor returned to the room around 10:30 p.m. to find her belongings had been stolen and called police, according to the NYPD.

Police tracked down and released security footage of the suspect, who was initially described as a woman.

Lewis faces charges of burglary, criminal trespass, criminal mischief and criminal possession of stolen property, according to the NYPD.
