JUBA, May 24 (Xinhua) --- South Sudan's Ministry of Health late Saturday confirmed 92 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of people who have tested positive to 655.

Makur Matur Koriom, Undersecretary in the Ministry of Health of South Sudan, said the public health laboratory also confirmed two new deaths, bringing the total number of fatalities in the East African country to eight.

He said South Sudan has so far recorded six recoveries, adding that the national taskforce on Friday ordered the wearing of face masks mandatory as a means to help contain the spread of the disease.

The spike in COVID-19 cases in South Sudan followed the easing of restrictions which were earlier imposed as part of measures to contain the spread of the viral respiratory disease in the country. Enditem
