Troopers: Wrong-way driver arrested on 890 in Rotterdam; Faces aggravated DWI count

May 23—ROTTERDAM — A Bronx man drove the wrong way down Interstate 890 Rotterdam while drunk recently, state police said Friday.

Dinanauth Mangroo, 35, was arrested May 15 after troopers responded to multiple 3 a.m. reports of a wrong-way driver on the interstate, state police said.

Responding troopers found the vehicle facing eastbound on the westbound shoulder. It was running and Mangroo was in the driver's seat asleep, troopers said.

The trooper woke Mangroo and had him step out of the vehicle. The trooper could smell alcohol from Mangroo's breath as Mangroo spoke.

Mangroo then failed field sobriety tests. He later gave a breath test that registered his blood alcohol content at 0.19 percent, above the legal limit of 0.08.

He was issued an appearance ticket and released to appear in court later.
