Jose Mourinho has reached the end of his tether with Paul Pogba and has reportedly texted Manchester United officials to make them aware of the situation.

United dropped more points away at Southampton at the weekend as they were held to a 2-2 draw and Mourinho is understood to have slammed Pogba at St Mary’s.

The pair fell out after Mourinho dropped Pogba from his starting XI midway through last season and their relationship has deteriorated significantly this term.

Pogba was stripped of United’s vice-captaincy back in September and Mourinho has been critical of the midfielder in public and in front of his team-mates in the dressing room.

Mourinho branded Pogba a ‘virus’ following his performance against Southampton and the Frenchman hit back by blaming his manager’s tactics for his below-par display.

According the The Independent, Mourinho has now given up on trying to rebuild the situation and texted United officials to tell them that he’s ‘tried everything’ with no success.

Speaking after the draw with Southampton, the Portuguese criticised his midfield for lacking a ‘mad dog’ mentality.

‘Doesn’t matter the system we play, has to do with the characteristics of the players,’ he said.

‘We don’t have many – with all the respect, hope people understand what I mean – we don’t have many ‘mad dogs’.

‘The ones that bite the ball all the time and press all the time, we don’t have many people with that spirit so nothing to do with the system.’
