SUPERIOR — The number of people testing positive for COVID-19 has remained relatively stable over the last two weeks, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services reported Wednesday, July 6.

Statewide, an additional 21,024 new cases were reported since June 22. The total number of cases across the state was 1,529,264 Wednesday.

Closer to home, an additional 463 people in Northwestern Wisconsin tested positive for COVID-19 since June 22, DHS said.

They were reported as follows: 113 in Douglas County; 68 in Sawyer County; 46 in Ashland County; 40 in Bayfield County; 39 in Washburn County; 38 in Burnett County; 35 each in Rusk and Taylor; 31 in Price; and 18 in Iron County.

The seven-day average of new cases in Wisconsin was 1,210 on Wednesday, down from 1,422 on June 22. The figure measures the average number of new cases per day over the previous week. A decrease indicates the number of confirmed COVID-19 infections in the state is going down, according to DHS.
