Like the Egyptian-born Parisian designer who founded the Chloe fashion house, Chloe perfume represents the world of accessible luxury. Gaby Aghion founded Chloe in 1952 and coined the phrase prêt-a-porter, which means ready-to-wear. Aghion rejected the snobby attitude toward high fashion and came up with the concept with high design being available off the rack.

Aghion released her first Chloe fragrance in 1975. Although Aghion sold her fashion house in 1985, Chloe lives on and the brand continues to release new perfume. Chloe’s Chloe Eau de parfum remains the most popular. If you love floral perfumes, like those by Marc Jacobs, Chloe is a perfume for you.

What to know before you buy a best Chloe perfume

Different sizes available

Chloe perfume is available in a range of sizes, from mini and travel sizes of less than 1 ounce to large 4.2-ounce bottles. The 2.5-ounce bottle is the most popular size for Chloe perfume. However, some Chloe perfume comes in a 3.3-ounce bottle. Both these sizes meet air travel restrictions that ban liquids of more than 3.4 ounces in carry-on luggage.

Classic Chloe perfume range

Chloe is the signature scent in the line and has several incarnations of the fragrance. Unlike Chloe Nomade and Chloe Love Story, which are distinctively different, classic Chloe perfume includes Chloe Roses de Chloe, Chloé Eau de Parfum Naturelle Spray, an organic rose scent, Chloe Rose Tangerine eau de toilette and Chloe L’eau eau de toilette.

Layering

The range of Chloe classic perfume makes this fragrance easy to layer. Most of the different fragrances in the Chloe line are floral. Even if the perfume has different base notes, the soft floral top notes in many Chloe fragrances make them ideal to blend. You can layer Chloe Eau de parfum with Chloe Rose Tangerine for a soft summer scent or top with Chloe Nomade to create a warmer, more seductive fragrance.

Chloe perfume features

Elegant packaging

According to Coty, the beauty company that manufactures and distributes Chloe, Aghion chose the name Chloé “for its warm, feminine appeal — it was perfectly in sync with the new mood in Paris; youthful, modern in design and slightly audacious in spirit.” In keeping with that spirit, the packaging for Chloe is feminine and elegant. Each Chloe perfume has a satin ribbon tied to the neck of the bottle.

Chloe perfume gift set bargains

During the holidays, Chloe gift sets fly off shelves because they provide the gift-giver with the ultimate triumph: An elegant perfume set that looks far more expensive than it is. Chloe gift sets come in elegant packaging, include mini sizes and often a gift with purchase. Some gift sets include three products for the price of one perfume.

Chloe perfume toiletries sold separately

Chloe perfume comes in luxurious body creams, lotions and shower gels in the same scent. Unlike some fragrances which only include toiletries in gift sets, Chloe perfume body creams, lotion, deodorant sprays and shower gels can be purchased separately.

Chloe perfume travel sizes

Almost all Chloe perfume comes in travel sizes. This includes spray pens, rollerballs and mini bottles. You can pop these tiny sizes in a purse, gym bag or backpack.

Chloe perfume cost

Chloe perfume ranges in cost from as little as $25 for travel sizes to more than $150 for large eau de parfum or gift sets.

Which Chloe perfume should I get?

Best of the best Chloe perfume

Chloe Eau de Parfum 2.5 ounce: available at Macy’s, Sephora and Ulta Beauty

Our take: Chloe is a powdery floral with soft sweet pink peony, lychee and honey notes. If femininity came in a bottle, they’d call it Chloe.

What we like: This scent is sweet and pretty for the sophisticated woman. With Chloe, you get class in a glass.

What we dislike: Those who prefer warmer, muskier scents may find Chloe perfume too sweet.

Best bang for your buck Chloe perfume

Mini Chloé Eau de Parfum & Nomade Eau de Parfum Set: available at Sephora and Macy’s
Our take: The mini set allows perfume fans to try the two most popular Chloe fragrances at an affordable price tag. If you like them, you can then invest in the larger sizes.
What we like: This mini set makes a great stocking stuffer or secret Santa gift with a monetary cap.
What we dislike: These Chloe perfume minis are not sprayable. You have to dap the fragrance on the skin, which can get messy.

Honorable mentions best Chloe perfume

Chloe Love Story Eau de Parfum: available at Sephora and Macy’s

Our take: Chloe Love Story is a more sensual take on the original Chloe perfume. Love Story opens with oil of orange blossom and neroli top notes. A hint of jasmine in the mid notes dries down with cedarwood base notes.

What we like: This fragrance is flirtatious, yet subtle. Chloe Love Story is light, but the fragrance lingers all day.

What we dislike: Chloe Love Story is super sweet and perhaps too sugary for some.

Chloe Nomade Eau de Parfum spray 2.5 ounce: available at Macy’s, Sephora and Ulta Beauty.

Our take: Released in 2018, Chloe Nomade is a nod to the free-spirited, well-traveled woman. It’s a warm floral with plum, freesia and oakmoss notes.

What we like: A nice scent for the fall, Chloe Nomade can be layered with Chloe to create a vibrant floral scent. There is a Chloe Nomade Absolute, an intense version of the perfume.

What we dislike: Nomade is a bit woodsier and a little spicier than other Chloe fragrances, which might turn off those who prefer fresh, clean or sweet perfume.
