MICHIGAN — More than 120,000 cases of the coronavirus have been confirmed in Michigan, state officials reported Friday.

More the second day in a row, Michigan health officials reported nearly 1,000 new cases of the coronavirus. On Friday, the state reported that 929 new case had been confirmed, bringing the statewide case total to 120,526.

Meanwhile, health officials said eight more people have died from the virus, increasing the coronavirus death toll in Michigan to 6,708.

Michigan added close to 1,000 new cases of the coronavirus on Thursday, according to the state. It also reported eight more deaths. As of last week, the state said more than 90,000 people in Michigan had recovered from the coronavirus.

Michigan is ranked 17th in the U.S. in reported coronavirus cases, according to the World Health Organization. The state is currently ninth in the nation in reported coronavirus deaths.

According to the World Health Organization, the U.S. leads the world in reported cases of the coronavirus with more than 7.2 million cases reported as of Friday morning. Nearly 208,000 people across the U.S. have died from the virus. Over 4.4 million people in the U.S. have recovered from the virus.

Over 32.6 million coronavirus cases have been reported worldwide, according to the World Health Organization. More than 990,000 people around the world have died from the virus. Over 24 million people have recovered from the virus worldwide.
