Actress and activist Ashley Judd will take part in campaign events in New Hampshire on behalf of Democratic presidential hopeful Sen. Elizabeth Warren on Friday
Judd will travel to New Hampshire to host Warren campaign events in Dartmouth, Lebanon, and Nashua that afternoon. It is her first campaign trip for Warren’s presidential bid.
“I support Elizabeth for president because of her plan to end the rancid corruption in Washington that makes government work for the well connected and leaves the vast majority of Americans behind,” said Judd when she endorsed Warren last month. “Elizabeth is brilliant, compassionate, day one prepared and she has a plan for that. I’m all in!”
Earlier this week, Warren picked up two endorsements in New Hampshire: Kathy Sullivan, former chair of that state’s Democratic Party, and two-term New Hampshire state Sen. Kevin Cavanaugh. However, a Suffolk University/Boston Globe poll shows the Massachusetts senator in fourth place in the hearts of New Hampshire voters behind Sen. Bernie Sanders, former Vice President Joseph Biden and South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg.
Friday’s visit to New Hampshire is not Judd’s first foray into presidential politics.
Judd supported Barack Obama in his successful election and reelection campaigns. She represented Tennessee as a delegate to the 2012 Democratic National Convention.
Judd was appointed Global Ambassador for YouthAIDS, an education and prevention program of the non-profit Population Services International.
She was one of the first women to step forward and accuse disgraced Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein of sexual harassment.
