What is Credit One Bank?

Credit One Bank helps people with less-than-perfect credit get secured and unsecured credit cards, which can help improve credit scores over time with responsible use. Through the Credit One Bank mobile app, cardholders can track their credit scores for free and access their accounts from anywhere.

About Credit One Bank credit cards

Credit One Bank offers seven credit cards with varying cash back benefits and fees for those with limited or bad credit. People with credit scores from 300 to 670 can qualify for a secured or unsecured Credit One credit card. You can find out if you pre-qualify on the Credit One Bank website.

The Credit One Bank Platinum Visa an unsecured option that doesn’t require a deposit and is available to those with fair credit. Since most credit-building cards require a security deposit, Credit One Bank Platinum Visa might be a good option for people who don’t have extra money and want a larger credit limit. It’s also a fit for people who have trouble getting approved for other cards. The Platinum Visa allows you to build credit and earn cash back rewards at the same time.

Credit One Bank benefits

Credit One Bank offers a variety of benefits to its cardholders. Cardholders have the option of choosing their payment due date. After a few months of responsible credit usage, Credit One reviews your accounts to see if you’re eligible for a credit limit increase. Other benefits include:

  • Cash back rewards: Credit One cardholders can qualify for different cash back rewards programs. Credit One Bank Platinum Visas for rebuilding credit earn up to 2% cash back on eligible purchases, including gas, groceries, mobile phone service, internet service and cable or satellite services.
  • Zero fraud liability: You are not responsible for unauthorized charges if your card is stolen or lost.
  • Free credit score: View your Experian credit score and credit report summary for free each month online.
  • Credit limit increases: Credit One automatically reviews your accounts for credit limit increase opportunities.

Credit One Bank fees

Credit One annual fees
Credit One Bank’s annual fees range from $0 to $99. Credit One charges the first annual fee when you open your account, which decreases your initial credit limit. After the first year, Credit One bills the annual fee once a year or divides it into 12 equal portions and bills it monthly. If your credit score improves, you may qualify for a lower annual cost.
Credit One ATM withdrawal fees
Since Credit One Bank only issues credit cards and doesn’t offer checking or savings accounts, you’re taking out a cash advance when you withdraw cash at an ATM with your Credit One credit card. Depending on the card you have, cash advance fees are either $5 or 8% of the amount of each cash advance, whichever is greater, or $10 or 3% to 5% of each cash advance, whichever is greater. Most banks also charge non-account holders a fee to use their ATMs.
Credit One foreign transaction fees
Foreign transaction fees are either $1 or 3% of each purchase in U.S. dollars, whichever is greater.
Credit One penalty fees
The fee per late payment or returned payment is up to $39.

I applied for credit card at the end of February. It’s been over two months and I have just now received my card. When I log on to my mobile app they charge me late fees as well as a $20 charge to ship my card to me. I call customer service, and they are now having to reset my account, which I was told will take up to 10 days at this point it’s been almost 3 months and I still can’t use my card.

If I could give them less than 1 star, I would. This company is a complete scam. I had this card for only 2 months. They are a bunch of foreigners preying on you and your money. Once I paid off their initial fees they took my payment for April on April 17 then charged me a late fee in the 18th then closed my account on the 19th. My account is current. When I ask them to reinstate my account that is current they said that they couldn’t and said to re-apply. Which would mean paying those same fees all over again just for them to close it again. Never again. Just stay away!!

Credit One Bank is a scam. They are a disreputable company with deceptive practices. There are 3,300 negative reviews for them on this site alone. Why are they allowed to continue operating? After 6 months of dealing with them I paid off the account including a $300 charge that was never authorized that they refused to remove.

Imagine somehow in the hyper-connected world we live in today that there is this Credit Card where there is no Chat service, no messaging in the app, and no email address. There is a phone number you call and suddenly you go from your quiet house to one of loudest call centers in New Delhi and while the person you're talking to talking in the thickest hard to understand accent you’ve ever heard. And don’t forget all you cam hear is background noise of a call center that holds 1000 people that all sound the same.

The fees are fine as they are upfront about that, but the card is constantly declined purchases for being "high risk" (not a problem with anyone else) and makes it borderline useless most of the time.

They took 200.00 dollars of my money out of my account then turned my card off before I even used it. Never notified me. Never sent a letter and are still holding my money and say there’s nothing they can do even though on the app it still shows the 200.00 credit. Wondering if I should sue.

Choosing this card to rebuild my credit was a huge mistake. The monthly charge of $8 is completely ridiculous. Despite more than a year of on-time payments and above-average score, Credit One has not raised my insanely low limit and even refused to do so upon request. I hate that I am stuck with this terrible credit card. They are essentially charging me $8/month just to own this card. Oh, and they also withhold credit for more than a week after they’ve taken my money. I am actually considering canceling my card altogether if doing so didn’t hurt my score.

I have two credit cards with Credit One Bank. The information for one of my cards was stolen and whoever received that information maxed that card out. I filed a fraud claim with Credit One and they denied my claim less than a week later and have yet to give a reason why. Now I have to go through so much just to get these fraudulent charges off of my record. I have never felt more violated.

Absolutely worst credit company ever, I used my card for about a month or two then they froze my card because they thought I wasn't the owner of the account. I proceeded to try to meet their requests of providing documentation. I sent the documentation they requested, but they said the documents I sent were invalid. I tried to keep them from closing the account, but eventually they closed the account. They charge upfront for the year service fee, they are trying to charge me for the 'year of service's and they keep jacking up the balance I owe. I absolutely refuse to pay this, I do not care how it affects my credit, I am not giving another dollar to a scummy company such as this.

I applied about a month ago and I still can't use the card. First they told me that the card was activated and I wouldn't have any problems, so I used it once. The next time it was declined and when I called I was told that I needed to provide an ID and bill doc for verification and that my first time use was an error of the system. I complied and a week passed without been able to use it. I called and I was told that they needed 10 business days for verification while they are already charging the monthly fee. I called again at the specified date and now they said that I have to provide another bill doc. I questioned why I wasn't notified and they had no answer. Worse yet, that I will have to wait another 7 days. It's unacceptable because when they come after you to pay them they can easily affect your credit.
