PETOSKEY — The Petoskey Curling Club (PCC) is ever-evolving in scope and sophistication. The club is looking for more folks to join in a celebration of the Winter Olympics, as outdoor and indoor curling experiences are offered this winter.

PCC will welcome members and teaching newcomers at the Winter Sports Park’s small rink on Mondays and Wednesdays beginning at 7 p.m. You’ll also have the opportunity to throw rocks with them at 8 p.m. every Saturday night at Petoskey’s Griffin Arena.

Club membership is well worth the price of only $50. It includes the weekday outings for free and a reduced price of $15 for the open curl at Griffin. Non-member fees are $20 for the weekday or Saturday experiences.

Membership details, as well as a signup link for the indoor dates, are available at the club's Facebook page.

Curling is a unique sport that’s appealing and appropriate for all ages and genders. Case in point, several all women teams have participated in PCC leagues in the past. Hope to see you on the sheet (ice) soon!

Bearcub/Daggett’s Sweet 16

• On Saturday, Jan. 27, Bearcub Outfitters will celebrate its 16th year sponsoring torchlight snowshoe outings at picturesque Camp Daggett. Trails will be open from 5 to 9 p.m. After your trek, munch on freshly baked cookies and hot chocolate by the roaring fire in the lodge. Bravos to Bearcub Outfitters and Camp Daggett for providing a great outing for outdoorspeople. If you miss the January event, it will do it again on Saturday, Feb. 24th. Camp Daggett is located at 03001 Church Road.
