TUCSON, AZ — If you've spent the pandemic searching for the perfect four-legged companion and have a car, then you're in luck.

That's because Pima Animal Care Center is hosting a drive-in adoption event, dubbed "Fiesta Con Los Perros y Los Gatos," from 7-9 p.m. Saturday in the shelter's overflow parking lot.

The event will use glow sticks to allow attendees to "bid" on pets in an auction-style adoption event, with capacity limited to 50 people.

Anyone that would like to attend the event must sign up prior to Saturday here, with attendees allowed to bring their dogs so they can have a meet and greet with a potential family member, the shelter said.

“It has been so long since we’ve had any sort of fun event like this at the shelter,” said Monica Dangler, Interim Director of Animal Services, in a statement. “We are trying to be creative and keep everyone safe at the same time.”

Saturday's event will also feature an outdoor showing of the Pixar short film "Kitbull," with a parade of photos and videos showing off adoptable pets being displayed on a big screen once the film warps up, the shelter said.

Friends of Pima Animal Care Center will also sell snacks and drinks to try and recreate a movie theater-like experience for two-legged attendees, while Central Pet will sell snacks for pets.
