An actor who appeared on The Wire is on the run after he reportedly escaped police custody at a Baltimore hospital.

Christopher Clanton Sr, who starred in nine episodes of HBO's critically-acclaimed crime drama, was arrested in the city on Thursday night for violating a protective order.

Prior to his booking, the 33-year-old was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital for a pre-existing condition before he was reported as missing from the medical facility the following day,  according to The Baltimore Sun

Court records show that Clanton has three additional criminal cases that are currently pending against him.

The case took a turn early Saturday morning, when a Facebook post was uploaded on an account purportedly belonging to Clanton.

The bizarre post claims the actor simply walked out of the hospital after he caught an officer who was guarding him snorting cocaine.

'Hilarious how EVERYBODY got something to say AND NOBODY is asking about my safety... Well this is what happened... I caught the officer sniffing a line cocaine from his backhand,' the Facebook post reads.

'When I said something about it he pulled a small handgun from his bag and said "I would hate to say you had this and fill you with my Mag" [Magnum pistol]. I walked to the door looking for another officer. He was the only one. During one of his episodes. I was alone and basically walked out of the front door'.

The post continues: 'I WILL NOT BECOME JUST ANOTHER NUMBER ON POLICE DART BOARDS....DO YOU REALLY THINK I WILL RUN BECAUSE OF A VIOLATION TO A PROTECTIVE ORDER?'

The odd message then implies that the cause of Clanton's arrest related to a protective order surrounding the custody of his child.

'BALTIMORE CITY REFUSES TO GIVE A STABLE MAN HIS SON AND WOULD RATHER HIM LOOK UP THE STATE!!!!!' the post reads.
