Marine Staff Sgt. David S. Spicer of Zanesfield killed in Afghanistan

The Department of Defense today announced the deaths of two Marines killed in combat in Afghanistan.

Staff Sgt. David S. Spicer, 33, of Zanesfield, Ohio, and Sgt. Michael W. Heede Jr., 22, of Delta, Pa., died July 13 in Helmand province.

Spicer was assigned to the 8th Engineer Support Battalion, Combat Logistics Regiment 2, 2nd Marine Logistics Group, II Marine Expeditionary Force out of Camp Lejeune, N.C.

Heede was with the 1st Combat Engineer Battalion, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force out of Camp Pendleton, Calif.

Zanesfield is about 50 miles west of Columbus.
