RED BLUFF — Beer lovers had plenty of options to choose from Saturday with around 100 different brews offered at 46 booths for the Red Bluff Brew Battle at River Park.

Formerly known as Tap into Tehama, the event was re-branded this year with the Red Bluff Active 20-30 Club taking over the reins and expanding the scope.

The first 500 people received a Red Bluff Brew Battle event cup to take home and there were 155 tickets sold prior to the event, said past President Amanda Jenkins.

Spectators enjoyed several games including cornhole and life-size Jenga, there was live music by Triple Tree and a dunk tank, a new addition.

Firefighters from Red Bluff Volunteer Fire Department were on-hand to be dunked to raise funds. The Active 20-30 club will match the money raised by the firefighters, said President Sean Rix.

The event is a fundraiser, but also a chance to highlight the beauty of the area and get people using the city park, Rix said. The club highlighted businesses that were pouring at the booths as sponsors. Two bigger sponsors were Prime Lending and Moule’s Tehama County Glass.

The event offers a great chance to build connections within the community, said member Jason Bauer.

New this year was a people’s choice award, Rix said.

The club has a couple of bigger projects it’s considering and will make a decision on where the money will go at a later date, Jenkins said.

Ryan Sale was helping with the Rotary Club booth and said he was glad to see a lot of people having a good time using the local park.

Robert and Lynda McFarlin of Redding were hanging out at the Cedar Crest booth. The pair were evacuated for 10 days by the Carr Fire and Saturday’s event was a chance to get out, Lynda McFarlin said.

“I’m very impressed with it,” Robert McFarlin said. “It has a very nice venue and I’m very impressed with the great selection of beer and sponsor booths.”

Antonio Rosas of Corning was returning to the event, having come in 2017.

“It’s fantastic,” Rosas said. “The music is great and people are in a great mood. Red Bluff needs more events like this.”
