Top Workplaces: Clickstop strives to keep employees appreciated, in the loop
Every three months, one employee at Clickstop in Urbana, Iowa will win a trophy, T-shirt, prime parking spot and $1,000.
The quarterly "Rock Star" is nominated by his or her peers to celebrate their accomplishments and recognize how they're living up to Clickstop's core value of "Think big and make it happen," said Jeremy Meyer, director of communications.
Nine other employees are also recognized each quarter with a T-shirt and $100.
"We work really hard to be sure our employees know how we're progressing and how our teams are contributing," Meyer said.
Based on a survey of employees, Clickstop was named one of the top mid-sized workplaces in the state. It's the sixth time Clickstop has been recognized by the Top Workplace program.
Besides the company-wide recognition, Clickstop also holds department meetings once a quarter to update individual teams on how they're progressing toward goals. Leaders share success stories, and employees provide feedback in ways to improve the organization.
These "impact conversations" also drill down to the individual level with one-on-one meetings at least once a quarter to discuss employees' individual roles and responsibilities, Meyer said.
"We make sure they're a part of the conversation always," he said. "You can have a place where you really enjoy the people and feel aligned with its values, but you may not feel rewarded by the work if people don't know how they're doing."
