Here are the movies opening in the Memphis area this week, plus special screenings, Nov. 30 to Dec. 6.

Opening Friday

The Possession of Hannah Grace (R, 85 min.) A former police officer (Shay Mitchell) encounters supernatural terror and violence while working the graveyard shift at a city morgue.

Mirai (PG, 98 min.) A young boy discovers a magical garden that enables him to travel through time in this Japanese animated feature from writer-director Mamoru Hosada ("Wolf Children").

Robo 2.0 (Not rated, 147 min.) A science-fiction action film that reportedly is the most expensive Indian production to date. Presented in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu versions. Here is one online synopsis: "The danger posed by a deadly winged monster forces Dr. Vaseegaran to reassemble his robot Chitti, which is the only way to fight this monster and save the world."

Allegiance to Broadway (Not rated, 85 min.) A documentary about the origins, creation and production of "Allegiance," the Broadway musical inspired by "Star Trek" actor George Takei's childhood days in an internment camp for Japanese-Americans during World War II.

America's Musical Journey 3D (Not rated, 40 min.) Morgan Freeman narrates this "joyful, tune-filled, giant-screen tour of the nation’s most iconic music cities," including New York, New Orleans, Chicago, Miami, Nashville and, of course, Memphis.

BTS: Burn the Stage (Not rated, 85 min.) An onstage and behind-the-scenes concert documentary about BTS (aka The Bangtan Boys), a Korean pop band.

Jack Frost (Not rated, 48 min.) The immortal winter sprite (voiced by Robert Morse) falls in love with a human girl (Debra Clinger) in this Rankin/Bass 1979 stop-motion holiday special. The narrator is a groundhog, voiced by Buddy Hackett.

"James Bond - 007 All Night": In case you're not still stuffed from Thanksgiving, the Memphis nightspot, Growlers, hosts a marathon of classic James Bond films. The schedule begins with Sean Connery in "From Russia with Love" (1963) at 5 p.m., followed by Roger Moore in "Live and Let Die" (1973) at 7 p.m.; Moore in "Octopussy" (1983) at 9 p.m.; Pierce Brosnan in "GoldenEye" (1995) at 11 p.m.; and Brosnan in "Die Another Day" (2002) at 1 a.m. (Schedule provided by Growlers, where nobody seems to have noticed that most of these movies are well over two hours in length.)

Journey to the South Pacific 3D (G, 40 min.) Cate Blanchett narrates this tour of West Papua, where life — whale sharks, manta rays, sea turtles and more — flourishes above and below the sea.

The King and I - Live (Not rated, 180 min.) Filmed live onstage in London, a revival of Rodgers and Hammerstein's musical about the unlikely relationship that develops between a proper English school teacher and the proud, pampered king of Siam.

Memphis Majic (Not rated, 72 min.) Director Eddie Bailey's documentary examines the 30-year history of the hip-hop-inspired Memphis form of street dance known as "jookin."

Tiny Giants 3D (Not rated, 44 min.) The latest Pink Palace 3D nature documentary uses state-of-the-art miniature cameras and other innovations to transport viewers inside the worlds of chipmunks, lizards and other small creatures, which appear giant-sized on the museum's screen. The narrator is Stephen Fry.
