Jackson woman killed in Calhoun County crash

CALHOUN COUNTY, MI -- A single-vehicle crash left one dead and another seriously injured Friday morning.

At about 3:35 a.m. on June 11, Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a single-vehicle crash in the 17000 block of V-Drive North in Convis Township.

When deputies arrived, they found two people in the vehicle -- a 23-year-old male driver and a 19-year-old female passenger, both of Jackson. The man and woman had serious injuries, a press release states, and the woman was unresponsive. Aide was rendered to woman, though she ultimately succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead on scene, the release states.

The driver was transported to Sparrow Hospital in Lansing for treatment, and is currently in stable condition, police said.

Police suspect alcohol was a factor in the crash, the release states, and the incident is still under investigation by the Calhoun County Accident Investigation Team.

Calhoun County was assisted by the Bellevue Fire Department and the Marshall Area Firefighters Ambulance Authority.
