MELROSE, Minn. - A Minnesota state trooper is headed to the hospital after his squad car was hit by a driver while he was responding to a crash on Interstate 94 near here.
Sgt. Jesse Grabow said he was responding at about 10:45 Tuesday morning to a single-car crash of a driver who had hit the median near mile post 138 near here, when another driver slammed into the back of his squad car.
Grabow said he was sitting alongside the left shoulder near the median himself at the time. He thinks speed and ice were likely factors in the rear-end collision.
Grabow was headed to an area hospital to be checked for injuries at the time.
