(MENAFN- The Conversation) Dr. Raha is a researcher and Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at McMaster University. He is also the Director of the McMaster Children and Youth University (MCYU), a community engagement initiative which strives to demonstrate that discovery and creativity can be powerful allies in breaking down the barriers between community youth and post-secondary educational institutions. His research focusses on the impact of inquiry-based teaching and learning on critical thinking in elementary school student as well as how partnerships in co-discovery wit the community serves to innovate the education experience for post-secondary students. Dr. Raha and the MCYU team have published on topics such as the transferable skill development in university students who engage co-learning experiences with young people in the community (Innovations in Education and Teaching International, 2021); the ethos behind collegial co-discovery which is the basis of MCYU (Children's Geographies, 2019), and how partnerships with community can help to reimagine the learning experience for both elementary students and post-secondary students. The research and delivery of the MCYU has been funded by organizations such as the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, McMaster University, the Joyce Family Foundation, and the Hamilton Community Foundation.
