The Nowata Ironmen football has a renewed sense of focus heading into the 2021 fall season. Nowata is expecting improved numbers as they await the start of fall camp on August 9.

Head coach Graham Snelding says last year was full of distractions. Between Snelding’s hire in April 2020 and the COVID-19 pandemic it never felt like the Ironmen got a fair shake of things. The young Nowata team went 0-9 in 2020. Snelding says this year the team will focus on the things that it can control.

The Ironmen will have youth at some positions but Snelding is enticed by a large freshman class. Those youngsters could be cracking the varsity lineup as soon as this fall. Nowata also will retain its entire coaching staff from the end of last season.

The Ironmen will open at Oklahoma Union on August 27. Select Nowata football games can be heard on KRIG 104.9 FM throughout the fall.
