A variety of activities are planned over a four-day period at Graceland Mansion in Memphis to celebrate January 8 - Elvis Presley's birthday and, 2004 as the 50th Anniversary year of Rock 'n' Roll.

Elvis Presley Day Proclamation Ceremony

The annual birthday proclamation ceremony is held on Graceland's front lawn and is presented by city, county and Graceland officials to proclaim Elvis Presley Day, and to officially kick-off the 50th Anniversary year of Rock 'n' Roll. Joining the celebration will be BMG/RCA making gold and platinum record presentations for Elvis' recent worldwide hit CD "ELV1S SECOND TO NONE."

A special gathering in the Graceland Pavilion, featuring guests: Julie Mundy, author of "Elvis Fashion: From Memphis to Vegas"; photographer Alfred Wertheimer, who shot many classic photos of Elvis in 1956; Elvis' former backing vocal group, The Imperials (Armond Morales, Jim Murray, Terry Blackwood, Sherman Andrus and Joe Moscheo); and Elvis' longtime concert conductor/musical director Joe Guercio.
