Marshall County first, Sacred Heart fourth after first round of girls golf state tourney

The Marshall County High School girls golf team holds a six-shot lead after Friday’s first round of the Leachman Buick-GMC-Cadillac/KHSAA State Championships at Bowling Green Country Club.

Marshall County carded a 26-over-par 314 and is followed by Lexington Christian (320), South Warren (324) and Sacred Heart (329) in the team standings.

Cooper and Madisonville-North Hopkins are tied for fifth at 341 and are followed by Meade County (354), Grant County (356), Pulaski County (358), Anderson County (381), Ashland Blazer (393) and Estill County (438).

Saturday’s second and final round is set to tee off at 8 a.m. EDT.

In the individual competition, Madison Central’s Elizabeth Eberle shot a 2-under 70 to hold a one-shot lead over Apollo’s Macey Brown. Shelby County’s Isabella Wiley is in third place with a 73. South Warren teammates Faith Martin and McKenna Stahl are tied for fourth at 74.

Sacred Heart was led by Abigail Sutherland, who is in a tie for ninth place after shooting a 76. Shelby County’s Grace Clark also carded a 76.
