Wife changes home alarm code on soon-to-be ex-husband: Strongsville Police Blotter

STRONGSVILLE, Ohio -- Alarm, Royalton Road: On Nov. 1, police were dispatched to a Royalton Road address regarding an alarm call.

The male resident gave the wrong code. The officer was advised that the man wasn't supposed to be at the home.

However, the man said he and his wife are going through a divorce and that he has every right to be at the home. Also, he said his wife had set the alarm remotely and didn't give him the code as revenge for the divorce.

The officer said everything checked out OK.

Drunken driving, Prospect Road: On Nov. 1, police observed a suspicious Hyundai on Prospect Road. While talking to the driver, the officer suspected that they were drunk.

After failing a field sobriety test, the driver was arrested for drunken driving.

Harassing communication, Boston Road: On Nov. 1, a Boston Road resident called police after someone kept calling her phone and saying her name.

The officer showed her the *67 feature on her phone, and advised her to sign up for the do-not-call list.

Attempted breaking and entering, Shagbark Trail: On Nov. 1, a Shagbark Trail resident came to the police station to report that someone had attempted to break into her home.

The woman showed the officer a photo of the deadbolt that appeared to have been damaged. While no one entered the home, the woman wanted the police to be aware of the incident, as well as two previous burglaries that had taken place a week before.

Suspicious person, SouthPark Center: On Nov. 1, mall security called police after seeing a man acting suspiciously. The shopper was wearing a Chicago Bulls hat and carrying a booster bag.

The employee admitted that no one saw the man shoplift. When an officer arrived, the man had left the mall.

Suspicious situation, Royalton Road: On Nov. 1, a BP customer told a gas station employee that there may be a credit card skimmer on Pump 4. An arriving officer looked at the pump, which appeared normal.

However, the State of Ohio seal was peeled from Pump 5. The employee said they would turn off both pumps and have them inspected the following day.

Theft, Drake Road: On Nov. 1, a guardian for an elderly woman came to the station to report a fraudulent check made from her account by a known person.

The guardian said if the known subject doesn't agree to pay the elderly woman back in cash, she'll return to the police station to file a report.
