Metro School Board To Vote On Next Year's Calendar Tuesday
Predictable Spring Break and fewer interruptions featured in 2017-18 MNPS calendar.
NASHVILLE, TN β A more predictable Spring Break, longer stretches of uninterrupted instruction and more professional development for teachers highlight the proposed 2017-18 Metro Schools calendar.
The school board will vote on the proposed calendar at Tuesday's 5 p.m. meeting. School will begin Monday, August 7 and, unlike previous years, there is no off-day after the first day of school. Fall break runs the week of October 9 through 13. With no elections scheduled in 2017, November 1 will be a parent conference day. Thanksgiving break will run November 22 through 24 and the Christmas holiday begins with a half-day December 15, with students returning for the second semester January 4.
Intersession has been removed from the calendar and there will be no snow make-up days in March, allowing for a more predictable Spring Break March 30 through April 6. There is also a three-and-a-half day weekend for students beginning with an early dismissal on Thursday, March 15 and a day off for students March 16.
