Tree House Brewing Company has announced plans to purchase Tewksbury Country Club, with plans to turn it into a craft beer destination while continuing to operate the golf course.

“We will evolve the space into an expansive and inviting beer hall and retail store and continue to operate the golf course and various amenities with the full strength of our brand behind it,” the announcement stated. “It is an ideal showcase for the tremendous talents of our creative teams in brewing, coffee roasting, distilling, farming, cooking, and more.”

Tewksbury Country Club has been under the ownership of Marc Ginsburg and his family for the last 25 years.

“In getting to know Marc and his team, and in learning the history of the club, it was clear that they share the same passion for great experiences and the meticulous attention to detail that we do,” the announcement stated. “We will carry on their legacy with the full vigor and enthusiasm of Tree House Brewing Company.”

Tree House Brewing Company recently announced plans to purchase the Tewksbury Country Club.

Tree House’s news came one day after Ginsburg announced he was planning to put the club up for sale.

“It is with heavy hearts that we inform you that after 25 wonderful years we have made the very difficult decision to sell the Tewksbury Country Club,” according to a post shared to the Tewksbury Country Club Facebook page. “As you can imagine this was not an easy decision but one that we feel is right for our family at this time.”

The post also stated that all events scheduled for 2022 will go on as planned, but no bookings will be accepted past Jan. 1, 2023.

Thanking community

After the news of the pending sale went public, Ginsburg took to Facebook to thank the employees and patrons for supporting the venue over the years.

“We would not have been able to accomplish what we have without each and every one of you, and for that we are grateful and humbled,” he shared. “With one door closing and another opening, we believe we have a great future steward that shares the same philosophy with their staff, brand and sense of community. Tree House Brewing Company has a phenomenal track record in their respective communities and we are grateful to have a new owner who will carry on what we have built with great care and attention to detail.”

According to Tree House’s announcement, the long-term vision for the location in Tewksbury is “to curate a gathering space for friends, families and groups to celebrate life and each other,” and to build a cultural destination.

“The connections we cherish and the memories that we make are ultimately what matters most in life,” the announcement continued. “Tree House was originally founded because we learned that great beverages held a unique power in contributing to this notion. Tree House Tewksbury is the next chapter in our story of devoting our lives to this ideal. We are so excited!”

Independently owned and operated, Tree House began in a small red barn in Brimfield in 2011. Since then the brand has expanded to include five facilities with the primary brewery, coffee roastery and distillery Charlton. Other brewery locations are in Monson, Deerfield and Sandwich, with a farm fermentory in Woodstock, Connecticut.
