NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – The winter weather moving across Middle Tennessee is beginning to cause problems on the roadways in some areas.
Davidson County
A multi-vehicle crash has been reported on I-440 E at Exit 1.
Metro Nashville Police are reporting that Briley Parkway between Two Rivers Parkway and Lebanon Park has become icy. You’re asked to use extreme caution today if you have to travel.
Police are also reporting icy road conditions on I-65 South near the Ellington Parkway exit. Drivers are asked to drive with caution if they must travel.
Montgomery County
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office posted on Facebook that roadways are slick in spots due to a frozen rain mix, however, road crews are actively working on clearing roads.
The Clarksville Police Department and Clarksville Fire Rescue located a car in the Red River early Sunday morning. Clarksville police believe this is a weather-related crash due to slick, icy roads and snow accumulation forming on the ground.
Rutherford County
The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office tweeted that roads are wet and slick in some places Sunday morning.
Humphreys County
Crews in Waverly are advising people to stay off the roads as a mixture of rain and sleet is affecting roadways.
A tractor-trailer crash has caused I-40 to close down in Humphreys County.
Williamson County
Williamson County Sheriff’s Office is asking people to avoid I-840 E near mile marker 20, due to a jackknifed trailer blocking the road.
Abandoned and wrecked cars have also been reported around the county.
Arrington Fire and Rescue is reporting multiple vehicle accidents as snow continues to pick up. They ask that you avoid the roads if possible.
Maury County
According to Columbia Police, Rutherford Lane between Trotwood and Bradford Circle will be shut down for an extended period of time as crews work to restore a down power pole as a result of a vehicle crash. You’re asked to please avoid the area.
Ice is forming on some roadways, according to Columbia Fire & Rescue. You’re asked to avoid the area if possible.
Wilson County
Road conditions are beginning to deteriorate in Wilson County as the snow continues to fall in the area.
In Mt. Juliet, a crash on I-40 E has three of the four lanes blocked.
Lawrence County
Lawrence County Fire & Rescue is reporting the county received a lot of rainfall prior to the snow, which has made streams and low water crossing dangerous and impassable. Drivers are asked to avoid these areas if at all possible. Law enforcement says the water is extremely cold and road condition will likely delay emergency responders.
Franklin County
Officials have closed Roarks Cove Road as they expect it to freeze overnight and several areas are expected to have black ice.
East Tennessee
Tennessee Highway Patrol is asking for people to avoid I-24 in the Monteagle area if possible as the wintry mix is creating hazardous road conditions.
THP also reports I-40 eastbound at mile marker 323 in completely closed due to a jackknifed tractor trailer. The truck has a ruptured fuel tank and fire and cleanup crews are headed to the scene.

Tennessee Department of Transportation crews worked 16-hour shifts to keep up with roadways overnight Saturday and Sunday morning. While they have worked to prepare the roads, TDOT urges motorists to avoid the roadways during the storm if they can.
