Blue-blocking lenses were shown to have no impact on signs or symptoms of eye strain by a recent study published in the American Journal of Ophthalmology.

The study randomly assigned 120 participants to groups where pre-recorded videos of clinicians either advocated or did not advocate for the effects of blue-blocking lenses. The participants then received either a placebo or blue-blocking lenses and completed a two-hour computer task.

In an analysis of critical flicker-fusion frequency, and objective measure of eye strain, it was found that both advocacy type and lens type created no significant effect.
