BLUE EARTH — The final offensive statistical line — 387 total yards and six touchdowns.

Just all in a night’s work for Blue Earth Area senior quarterback Adam Schavey.

Schavey completed 9 of 15 passes for 157 yards and two TDs to complement a yeoman’s 33 carries for a game-best 230 yards and four more scores to power the Class 2A No. 2-ranked Bucs to a 48-14 district football rout over the Jackson County Central Huskies on Friday night at Wilson Field in Blue Earth.

“It all starts with the guys upfront,” Blue Earth Area assistant coach Travis Armstrong said in reference to offensive line coach Brian Kokos’ tackles Logan O’Hara and Vern Johnson, center Luke Norman, guards Kale Frank and Kean Hicks, and tight end Blake Ripley. “They open up a lot of holes, and Adam (Schavey) knows how to run through them.”

Schavey opened the game’s scoring by crossing the goal line from 3 yards out before Gabriel Smith kicked the PAT for a 7-0 lead with 5:40 remaining in the first quarter.

Schavey then went to the airwaves to fire a 5-yard scoring strike to Ashton Lloyd before Smith doubled the margin to 14-0 with a kick through the uprights with 10:38 left in the second frame.

Gabriel Wolff countered for JCC by reaching the end zone on a 5-yard run before Levi Lindley delivered the 2-point conversion run to narrow the gap to 14-8 with 3:27 left before halftime.

Schavey, however, countered with a momentum-changing 2-yard TD rumble with only 1 second remaining before intermission. Smith’s PAT kick made it 21-8 going into the lockerroom.

Schavey then connected with Luke Schonborn for a 42-yard scoring strike to widen the Bucs’ lead to 27-8 at the 8:42 juncture of the third quarter.

Schavey then reeled off end zone-finding runs from 7 and 4 yards out, respectively, to bridge the third and fourth quarters. Smith kicked both PATs for a commanding 41-8 lead with 11:26 remaining in regulation.

Will Freking answered with a 4-yard TD run for the Huskies before Parker Meyers sprinted 10 yards to paydirt for the Bucs. Smith capped the scoring with the extra point.

Waylen Douglas generated 53 yards on three carries, while Lloyd pocketed four receptions for 63 yards and a TD. Meyers contributed three catches for 46 yards, while Schonborn garnered two passes for 48 yards and a score.

Roman Voss completed 4 of 15 passes for 93 yards for JCC, Payton Handevidt grabbed all four throws, while Will Freking led the ground game with 51 yards on six carries.

Blue Earth Area (3-0) plays host to Le Sueur-Henderson for a 7 p.m. Homecoming game next Friday night at Wilson Field in Blue Earth, while Jackson County Central entertains Windom Area in Jackson.
