MORESBY South’s Vadavada bloodbath between Goilala and Enga tribesmen rages on with three men injured in shootings last week.
The work of policemen in trying to maintain law and order and bring back security in the settlement has gotten more dangerous with the use of firearms.
NCD/Central commander ACP Anthony Wagambie Jr said two of the settlers shot and injured were recovering in hospital and the third at home.
“I am very disappointed and disgusted with the attitude of the settlers who have refused to heed our advice to keep peace and let us investigate the attacks and murders,” he said.
ACP Wagambie said armed policemen had rushed to the shooting scene and police detectives found that two of the shooters were armed with a pistol and a rifle while other assailants wielded bush knives.
An Engan man was reported to be recovering from injuries after he was shot through his abdomen with a piece of iron.
The other two men from Goilala are recovering from gunshot wounds on their hand and leg.
Police have confirmed that the man shot in the hand was recuperating in hospital while the wounded in the leg had been discharged.
