AMHERST COUNTY, Va. (WSET) -- Amherst County Public Schools announced on Monday that two individuals at two different schools have tested positive for COVID-19.

The school district said that an individual at Amherst Middle School and one at Amherst County High School has been diagnosed with the coronavirus.

Both schools will remain open at this time.

ACPS protocol states that anyone identified as having been potentially exposed will be contacted by Central Virginia Health Department and/or Amherst County Public Schools. All who have been contacted are asked to stay home and monitor for symptoms of cough, shortness of breath, or a temperature higher than 100.4F, and practice social distancing for 14 days from your last contact.

ACPS said that if you have not been contacted directly by the health department or by Amherst County Public Schools, you have not been identified as a potential exposure and you do not need to stay home or exclude yourself from activities at this time.
