New Initiative to Support the BLM Movement: GidiSole Change-Maker Sneakers

Edmonton, AB, Canada – In pure recognition of Black-owned businesses and the power to amplify their voices and channel funds into positive change; the team at GidiSole has designed their first line of the Black Lives Matter Change-Maker Sneaker series. The Black Lives Matter Change-Maker Sneakers were designed to support the BLM Movement, and provide an identity for the Black Community. Their sneakers are symbolic of the Black Excellence the Community is so well known for.

As they make their way through the celebration of Black History Month and shine a spotlight on the BLM Movement, it’s important to think of how the Black Community’s prolific contribution and involvement in history and global successes has been dismissed for far too long. An exact measure of their determination to create something that can contribute to this historical movement towards equality for all.

The cause for which their Game-Changer shoes were designed is a cause that they (the Black Community) have been agitating for, for over 400 years. The plan is to put a spotlight on the fact that Black Lives Matter from the board room to the classroom, from the basketball court to the courts. Black Lives Matter EVERYWHERE.

GidiSole created this line to help amplify the voices of many while creating a positive change on a larger scale. As Michelle Obama once said so beautifully: “Race and racism is a reality that so many of us grow up learning to just deal with. But if we ever hope to move past it, it can’t just be on people of color to deal with it. It’s up to all of us – Black, white, everyone – no matter how well-meaning we think we might be, to do the honest, uncomfortable work of rooting it out. It starts with self-examination and listening to those whose lives are different from our own. It ends with justice, compassion, and empathy that manifests in our lives and on our streets.” 

The Black Lives Matter Change-Maker Sneakers is a tool for change and is a way for everyone to do their part. A way for everyone to contribute to the BLM Movement and give back to the community while extending that compassion and empathy everywhere.

GidiSole thoughtfully crafted their sneakers and specifically designed them with a goal to make a change. Three of their color choices (red, white, and blue; green and white; red and white) are symbolic of the flags of the USA, Canada, and Nigeria- which are hotspot countries for racial equity and social inclusion. While the BLM campaigns have raged on and continue to do so in Canada and the USA, Nigeria has also dealt with the #EndSARS campaign. Like the BLM movement, this campaign was sparked by police brutality on innocent citizens.

GidiSole intends for Proceeds to go to Black-Owned/Supported Organizations in Healthcare and Education. Better healthcare and health-related resources go a long way in helping strengthen community ties and equally ensures a more powerful, solid, better-equipped world. Equipping young ones with the tools to show empathy and inclusion before they take their places in the workplace, in the financial world, in the classrooms, in the legal system; in every area where more racial equity is required.
