Coronavirus in Massachusetts: Baystate Health reports 21 new COVID-19 cases; more than 2,000 people tested at facilities

The total number of positive coronavirus cases confirmed by Baystate Health has increased to 437 as of Sunday.

The Springfield-based health provider reported 416 positive cases on Saturday. Baystate Health reported an additional 21 cases on Sunday.

The Baystate Health facilities in Western Massachusetts have tested a total of 2,076 people as of Sunday. A total of 1,521 tests have come back negative while 118 tests are still pending results.

Within the health care system there are 121 patients who are hospitalized with a confirmed COVID-19 infection. Baystate Health said 40 people are critical care units.

Baystate Health does not report gender, age or residences of patients to ensure privacy.

In Massachusetts, there were 216 coronavirus-related deaths as of Saturday.

The number of positive cases in Massachusetts rose to 11,736 on Saturday, up from 10,402 on Friday.
